Solo Trip Aussie #Melbourne…..Day 2

March 20th 2012

Landed at T4 Tullamarine Airport in Melbourne, local time at 23.30 PM, but actually it was still 18.30 Indonesian time, and I got this little jetlag, because time difference between Jakarta and Melbourne was about 4 hours. I got to much sleep at the plane and now already midnight in Melbourne. T4 Tullamarine airport was just like a big garage, no air conditioner, no bench, just a place to collect your baggage from conveyor belt. I need to go to prayer room first before finding place to sleep in the airport. FYI, I didn’t book a room at guesthouse for that night, coz I only need to rest for 4-5 hours from now on.

The Prayer room for muslim was in departure lounge at International Terminal (T2), to go there you may just short walked from T4. Heading to International airport alone in cold weather at midnight like this was absolutely dangerous, so I speed up my footsteps. Entered International Terminal and looking around the area. The terminal too empty, it didn’t look like what I imagined before. I had been told by my friend (Defi) that Tullamarine airport always full of backpackers whose transit to or from Sydney, so no need to worry for sleeping at the floor with backpacker buddies, but today it didn’t looks like what she told me before. There was only 3 female backpackers around here. I was headed to the toilet which also empty, I need to clear my face and doing some “business” there, after that trying to find the prayer room.  Finally I found the prayer room which between T3 and T2, closest to the escalator and toilet (see the map). Although the prayer room not big, but it managed well and cleaned, it was also provides holy Qur’an, the prayer stuff, and tap for wudhu, so no need to go to toilet for wudhu.

Melbourne Arrival Terminal

After praying Maghrib and Isya at the prayer room, since it was already passed midnight, I should sleep. At first I didn’t think for taking nap at prayer room, so I just headed to the bench at the departure lounge like another backpackers. The perfect place closest to the wall already been taken by another female backpacker, she puts her body fit to the whole bench. I got the bench right beside her, but my place obviously closest to the automatic door, so it’s freaking cold when the automatic doors opened.  Taking out my magic “kain Bali”, coat and trying to sleep. About 30 minutes I still awake, couldn’t sleep at all. The security inside the terminal started round. Airport cleaning service staff also started cleaning the floor with sweep machine which made terrible noise. It can’t be like this for whole night. I took my red backpack, then rushing to the prayer room again. I need a quite place to sleep, so I covered up my body with prayer clothes, set up the prayer rugs, now it was perfect place to sleep.

March 21 ,2012

Sleep for almost 2.5hours, I woke up earlier. Checking prayer time from my iPad, it hasn’t shubuh praying time yet. Decided to praying tahajjud first, then suddenly I overslept again. I really startled, when an African muslim went inside the prayer room, he also shocked found me overslept there. I stood up for short while, slap my face about 5 times, then started took wudhu again. What a relief, the African man willing to wait out side the prayer room, until I finished took wudhu. After praying, I’m headed to toilet and prepare my self for heading to downtown Melbourne this morning. Continue reading

Solo Trip to Aussie #Perth….. Day 1

March 20th 2012
Landed safely at Perth International Airport (T1) at 05.20 AM with AirAsia D7236, hmmm this is my first step in to another continent. I oversleep at the plane, so i haven’t praying shubuh, i just woke up right before landing time. i need to pass the immigration counter as fast as i could, coz i need to heading to prayer room immediately. Line up with other passengers, i found another muslimah passenger also followed the line far away behind me. As usual, i got nervous and there was butterflies in my stomach, one of the officer manages the passenger to make the line before entering immigration counter, the officer at the queue gave me a paper, which stated some code while other passenger didn’t get it. Ok, let’s passed what waiting for me, then after standing at the line for 15 minutes the officer called me to the counter.
IO= Immigration Officer
IO: purpose?
Me: holiday
IO: how long you’ll stay at Australia?
Me: A week.
IO: you stated at your items to declare that you bring some foods from your country?
Me: Yup, only noodles and bread.
IO: what kind of noodles?
Me: Just instant noodles, do i have to show you my noodles?
IO: Ok, no need, welcome to Australia, enjoy your holiday. (stamp my passport)
Me: Thanks
Fiuhhhhh, the butterflies goes away. Before leaving the immigration counter, you need to go to Exit door, where another officers already waiting you for checking your baggage, this time 2 beautiful lady officers waiting for me.
IO1: Morning!!!
Me: Morning *smile brightly (please make it fast, i want to go to prayer room)
IO2: Do you bring any food, in your baggage?
Me: Yes, only noodles and bread.
IO1: Please open your baggage and show me your food *also with bright smile
Me: No problem ( i opened up my Red Backpack, and show them everything inside the bag)
IO2: Please stretch your hand and facing me ( now she holding a black stick like a scanner, and scanning my body)
Me: (holding my breath, please make it fast, and let me go) is everything ok?
IO1: (Still busy with my bag, scanning whole sides, and she closed my bag carefully)
IO2: (Busy with paper checklist) traveling alone?
Me: Yes
IO1: Ok finished, thank you for your cooperation, have a good day.
IO2: Have a good day.
Me: Thank you.
Alhamdulillah, escaped from immigration, I’m heading to prayer room, at the corner arrival hall T1. After praying, heading to vodafone counter for purchasing micro SIM card for my IPad, so for next 7days i’ll be connecting to the internet. The big bald man standing at the counter. Filling out the registration form, and the guy explain some instruction and told me to pay AUD $ 30, although some of his words i couldn’t understand, coz he talked so fast with his British accent which made me blank. Restart my iPad then voilaaa, straight to foursquare apps, and made check in at Perth International Airport T1. Before leaving T1 i need to clean up my face and change my clothes coz i look really horrible.

Perth Airport Shuttle Bus

Around 7.30 AM at local time i’m headed to T2 by Free Shuttle Bus, the orange bus with “CONNECT” logo. You have to asked the driver whether the bus headed to T2 or T3, coz the shuttle bus for each terminal had the same appearance, so ensure the destination by asked it first. It took 10mins from T1 to T2, alight at the bus stop, then i found bus stop for Transperth Bus no.37, it’s time for finding the luggage locker. I asked the security at the bus lane about it, he point to the outside area close to parking lot. The luggage locker at Perth Airport operated by Smarte Carte, they operated different size type, i choose the medium for 8 hours which cost $10, then paid the fee with my $20 bills, then i got the change. This machine was very simple, you just need to follow the instruction at the screen, don’t forget to take out the receipt then rewrite your locker PIN, in case you lost the receipt, the PIN needed to unlock your luggage  locker while you taking out your baggage. Going back to the bus stop and waiting for Transperth Bus no.37, make sure to download the bus time table, cause some buses had different destinations although it had the same number. After waiting for another 10 minutes , Transperth bus no.37 finally came then i was heading to Kings Park. Continue reading

1N2D Short Transit in Malay

17 March 2012

After completing my Korean Class at KCCI, I’m heading to Gambir Railway Station to meet up with Fenny my dorm mate, I told her to bring my backpack to Station, coz i have to go to airport right away, although my flight schedule at 6.50 PM WIB. While waiting her i got lunch at Hoka Hoka bento, yups i’m about to die, too hungry i mean. 😀

30 minutes later Fenny arrived with my Red Backpack, she looks exhausted, i felt really sorry to trouble her. Finishing my lunch, then Fenny send me off to Damri bus station, and i get on the bus, lucky me, there was still empty seat at front row. As always, I fall asleep until the bus reach the airport. Arrived at the airport heading to Mushalla Terminal 3 Soekarno Hatta Airport for praying ashar, then straight move to check in counter for document checking, after short check and filling up immigration card, I’m heading to second floor to terminal gate.

There was no queue in front of immigration counter, so I ended up heading to charger station, and recharge all my gadget about 1 hour. For spent 1 hour in there, I started searching allkpop website and found that CNBLUE already launch new MV for new single “Still In Love”, while listening this song i can’t hide my smile looking at Jonghyun and Jonghwa with their guitar, such a talent boy, this song beyond my imagination, usually Yonghwa only made the cheerful song, but this song was absolutely different.

Finished watching their MV, i started open my PlayerEx on Ipad and watching variety show 1N2D celebrity Special Episode with Kim Haneul ,Choi Ji Woo, and another actrees. i really love this variety show cause the theme also about traveling, although most of their destinations at remote area in South Korea i’m still lovin’ it. finishing ep 205, then moving to immigration counter and stand on the line with other passengers and get annoyed by an old man that keep staring at me. As always i’m getting nervous when the immigration officer, checked and scanned my passport, then felt relieved when i got stamp on passport page. This is also my first trip to KL by myself and didn’t have any plan what i’m going to do in KL during my transit days.

Local time still at 05.20 PM then i wasted my time with creating first post about my preparation solo trip to Aussie, while time for praying maghrib came, i left my baggage to female passenger which sat beside me. The mushalla at waiting room Terminal 3 not really crowded, so i could praying right away. Dear Allah, i hope my solo trip got blessing from You. Finished my worship then heading back to my seat again. At 06.50 PM there was announcement for passenger flight number QZ 7694 ready to depart then whole passengers made another line to the gate departure including me. Showing my boarding pass to AirAsia officer and got stamp in there. I just realize my seat number at plane was 18B and it means i’m in the middle. i didn’t like sit in the middle. What makes me really not enjoyed this flight was because the person whose sat in the right and left me was all men :(. During 2 hours travel time to Kuala Lumpur i slept tightly again.

Preparation Solo Trip to Aussie

every time I told people around me that i got the cheapest fare to Aussie, whole people felt envy. FYI I got return ticket jakarta-Kuala Lumpur only IDR 150.000,- all in and Kuala Lumpur-Perth MYR 208 all in (IDR 624.000,-). I told you about how to get this fare, I got this flight during Rp “0” promotion by AirAsia around may 2011. I tried to find return flight from Perth to Kuala lumpur, but there was no promo fare, so I ended up booking one way ticket. day by day, month by month, I had planned to going back via kuala lumpur from Sydney or Adelaide, but the promo fare never came. Being nervous about Australia Visa I decided to find and waiting cheapest ticket from Perth to kuala lumpur. finally I got another newsletter from Jetstar at 11th Nov, they held promotion for Perth – Jakarta only AUD 73, due to some taxes charging it cost about AUD 136, but still it was the cheapest fare from jetstar. After booking this flight, I kept searching another flight from Perth to Melbourne, Perth to Sydney, Perth to Adelaide, Sydney to Melbourne etc.

I planned to submit my visa application to AVAC at least 2 months before departure date, but due to my hectic working day I submitted my application after back from Singapore, 1 month before departure date. at that time promo tickets from Melbourne to Sydney (AUD 47), Perth to Melbourne (AUD 110), Sydney to Adelaide(AUD 90), Adelaide to Perth (AUD 130) no longer existed, all fare just like regular fare, the big gap between regular fare and promo fare around AUD 20-50 I regret not booking it in advance, then I ended up decided not to go to Adelaide and Canberra to reduce my expenses.

The most shocking part when my travel mate whose should be going to Aussie with me couldn’t go because her visa being declined by Australia Embassy.the reason her visa being decline was because of she never travel aboard before,it means her passport still clean. It was made me really sad. however the show must go on, nothing to regret, it was planned I had to go there by my self just like first plan when I book this promo ticket. Let’s go, i had to show them my capability, yup!!! I could do it by my self. After collect my visa from AVAC , I got email from power house museum in Sydney which stated Harry Potter Exhibition extended until the end of April. Alhamdulillah, it made my sadness disappear, actually Power House Museum had planned for closing Harry Potter Exhibition at March 18th 2012, perhaps too many people haven’t going there yet, that’s why they extend the exhibit.

I send a message to Minta Ito, my high school friend who stayed at Sydney, I ask her about how to collect my exhibit ticket, then she willing to book it for me and the ticket would be sent to her house at Allawah Sydney. now, I had to make detail itinerary for this trip, it was became the fastest itinerary that I ever made, it completed only in 2 weeks, hehehehe thanks to google,Wikipedia, halal maps, and of course to Allah. money matters mad me decided to book a female dorm at kuala lumpur and Melbourne only for one night, I willing to sleep at airport and mushalla during my transit, but until the departure date I’m still hesitate did I have stay at guesthouse while transit in Melbourne? or is it more comfortable to overnight at airport?

Solo Trip to Aussie start from Kuala Lumpur-Perth-Melbourne-Sydney-Katoomba-Sydney-Fremantle-Perth then Jakarta. hopefully everything went well as planned, when I made this post I still have one free day in Sydney, I wonder where I should going in that day, I consider to go to downtown with bus 555, or have fun at the Boundi Beach, or heading to zoo for visiting Kangaroo and Koala?

if anyone could suggest another place which worth to visit, don’t hesitate to email me or mention to my twitter account @uun_n

Wish Me Luck everyone, I’ll be back next week ;D

Summer Trip to South Korea …. end

Finally, ending of this summer trip already came. We decided to sightseeing around Seoul as planned. Today destinations were Namsan Tower, Coffe Prince Café, and Trick Art Museum at Hongdae. Unfortunately, on our last day the weather became gloomy, when I checked outside scene over the window there was hard rain, but the show must go on, we prepared our self the best outfit for this rainy day. Finish our breakfast as fast as we could, then we heading outside along with 3 cute umbrellas that being rent for free from guesthouse. Sonia and Dinda had choosen blue and pink transparrent umbrellas, while I choose yellow polkadot motive.

the show must go on

We have tight schedule, after leaving guesthouse heading to hyehwa subway station line 4 and alight at Chungmuro station exit no.2, from Chungmuro bus stop get on to the bus no 2 or 5 that heading to Namsan tower. The rain already stopped when we get on the bus. Arrived at Namsan Tower , we bought 3 combined tickets for Teddy Bear museum and Observatory Area that cost KRW 14.000 per person. Straight to tower entrance at the right side, I’m start guiding Dinda and Sonia to Teddy Bear Museum past theme. After exploring whole side of past theme, we move to present and future theme of Teddy Bear World in South Korea and bought a Teddy Bear that wearing hanbok. From Teddy bear museum moving to Digital Observatory at 3F by elevator. It isn’t usual elevator, inside elevator you could experienced like flying outside space, while under your feet there was big screen that showing the ground. Arrived at Digital Observatory  then we realized that it’s raining again at outside and too much fog, so the awesome scene that usually could seen from here we didn’t get it.
